Korean double cleansing
for combination skin
Does your T-zone shine before the day is out, yet your cheeks feel tight after cleansing? It's the classic scenario of unbalanced combination skin, often treated with overly stripping cleansers. Double cleansing answers this paradox with simple logic.
Why Korean double cleansing suits combination skin
Combination skin produces more sebum on the forehead, nose and chin, while the cheeks may lack water, lipids, or both. It therefore has several needs at once: clearing pores and excess sebum, removing SPF and make-up, all while keeping the skin barrier comfortable.
It's not about cleansing twice with two stripping gels — the aim is to cleanse better, with formulas that target different kinds of impurities. For combination skin, this nuance helps keep the T-zone clearer without turning the cheeks into tight patches.
Step 1: a light, emulsifying oil-based cleanser
The right oil won't make your skin shiny or clog your pores — it binds with sebum to lift it away gently. Apply one or two pumps to dry skin, massage for a minute, focusing on the sides of the nose and the chin, then add a little water to emulsify.

Step 2: a gentle water-based cleanser with a skin-friendly pH
Your skin should feel clean, fresh and comfortable — not squeaky. Look for gentle formulas with glycerin, panthenol or centella, and a pH close to that of your skin.

Do you need to double cleanse every day?
In the evening, yes, if you wear SPF or make-up. In the morning, generally not — your skin hasn't built up anything overnight. A rinse with water or a very gentle water-based cleanser is often enough.
Adapting your routine for breakouts and dehydration
Blemish-prone combination skin isn't necessarily skin that lacks cleansing — above all, it lacks balance. Over-stripping triggers an unflattering cycle: the skin defends itself, produces more sebum, and then gets even harsher products.
After double cleansing, focus on light but genuine hydration. Niacinamide supports the barrier and helps visibly regulate excess sebum.

- Combination skin has several needs at once — not a stronger cleanse, but two complementary formulas.
- One minute of massage is enough — no need to overdo it to "unclog" pores.
- Double cleansing is mainly for the evening, when you've worn SPF or make-up.
- After cleansing, hydrate quickly to avoid a T-zone / cheek imbalance.
- Good results show the next day, not in the matte feeling right after rinsing.
